    • Composting

    • Cleaning Trays

    • Preparing Trays for Planting

    • General Farm Upkeep

    • Labeling Packaging

    • Assisting with Harvest

    Flexible work hours, starting at 15 hours/week.

    Pay starts at $15.00/hour.

    No farming experience required.

    Must be comfortable bending over frequently, climbing ladders, and moving objects heavier than 50lbs.

FARM MANAGER

  • Job Title – Microgreen Farm Manager

    Job Description –

    Piedmont Microgreens is seeking a passionate and experienced individual to lead our farm team. The Microgreen Farm Manager will oversee the daily operations of our indoor farm. Your job is to uphold our company values and maintain product quality, while keeping up with the growing demand for our microgreens. You’ll work with the business owner to improve farm efficiencies, respond to the changing demands of our customers, and grow the overall output of the farm.

    Responsibilities –

    • Harvest and pack hundreds of trays per week for restaurants, wholesalers, and the farmer's market.

    • Deliver product to various clients around the Triangle.

    • Engage with chefs, produce managers, and home consumers to establish strong relationships and gather valuable feedback.

    • Perform routine farm tasks, including composting, cleaning, labeling, and planting.

    • Manage a dedicated team of farmers to ensure smooth farm operation and upkeep.

    • Represent Piedmont Microgreens at the Durham Farmer's Market stall, promoting our products and brand.

    • Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to meet customer demands and explore new market opportunities.

    • Implement sustainable and organic farming practices to maintain product quality and environmental responsibility.

    Qualifications & Requirements –

    • Previous farming experience is required. Indoor or outdoor farming is acceptable. Experience working on a for-profit or production-focused farm is preferred to an educational farm.

    • Strong organizational and leadership skills to effectively manage a small team. Prior management experience is a plus.

    • Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and market visitors.

    • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to dynamic farm demands.

    • Ability to work comfortably and efficiently in physically demanding conditions, including bending, climbing ladders, and lifting objects heavier than 50lbs.

    Piedmont Microgreens is an indoor farm dedicated to growing the freshest and highest quality food for our community. We are the premier provider of local microgreens for restaurants, wholesalers, and individuals across the Triangle. As an indoor farm, we grow food on a predictable schedule, 365 days a year without the use of pesticides. Piedmont Microgreens has been around for three years and we've worked with more than 70 restaurants to date.

    Job Details -

    The position starts at 30 hours/week with a wage of $20.00/hour. After a 90 day learning period, the position will increase to 40 hours/week with a wage increase to $23.00/hour. We also offer a retirement plan with employer matching to support our employees' financial goals. FORAGING CONSULTANT

  • We’re looking for an independent, self-motivated individual to research foraged food products from Western North Carolina. The project goals are to identify qualified foragers, build lasting relationships, and source high quality, sustainably sourced foods for our chefs in the Triangle. As a consultant, you’ll be expected to do the following.

    • Perform independent research

    • Provide a weekly written summary of your findings

    • Collaborate with our owner to determine next steps

    • Collaborate with other experts to enhance your findings

    Flexible hours and work from home are available, but 10-20 hours/week is required. Continued employment is based on findings from and performance during the first 100 hours of research.

    Pay starts at $15.00/hour with the potential for future revenue sharing.

    No agriculture experience required, but farming, foraging, or mushroom cultivation experience is a plus.
